INTRODUCTION TO BOWENWORK with Instructor Perry Levenson

In this introductory class you will learn about Bowenwork, a comprehensive gentle hands-on health system that will enable you to aid the recovery of your clients from a large range of internal and musculoskeletal conditions.   Perry will lecture and demonstrate the techniques associated with Bowenwork and you will learn how this modality can change the way you practice.

Perry Levenson holds New York State licenses in Massage Therapy and Acupuncture. He is board certified in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (NCCAOM)., and is one of only ten instructors in the United States who is certified to teach Bowenwork.

You will learn a comprehensive health system that will enable you to aid the recovery from a large range of internal and musculoskeletal conditions. You will learn procedures that balance the body overall as well as a range of procedures that address specific areas of the body. After receiving your initial qualification you will then have the opportunity to join a number of post-graduate training courses including Ossie and Elaine’s Special Bowen Procedures I and Master Class (Special Bowen Procedures II).

Each Module consists primarily of hands-on training. You will learn through demonstration and immediate practice all appropriate Bowen moves for your level. During the last four modules you will also be required to complete a theory test. During the duration of training you will also be required to complete case studies, outside of your hands-on training.

BRING:  A set of sheets and wear loose comfortable clothing.

This workshop is part of the Advanced Myofascial Techniques Series.  These workshops are taught by highly qualified Certified Rolfers and over the past 20 years, have trained hundreds of body therapists and advanced students in highly effective and unique myofascial techniques that can be easily incorporated into their existing personal styles.  The Advanced Myofascial Techniques workshop series presents a comprehensive system for working with the body in its entirety, encompassing over 20 session sequences and more than 200 techniques, tests, and procedures.    

BRING:  A set of sheets and wear loose comfortable clothing.  For women it is suggested to wear a cami top, bathing suit or sports bras and comfortable shorts or leggings.  For men loose shorts, or sweats and loose fitting shirts.

Larry Koliha
is certified in Advanced Myofascial Techniques. He is also a Certified Rolfer®, Rolf Institute® FOSP Faculty, and an Instructor in the Advanced Myofascial Techniques series. His extremely clear, knowledgeable, and good-natured teaching style consistently delights his students. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic flexibility system developed by Aaron L. Mattes.  It is utilized by doctors, massage therapists, physical therapists and athletes to improve the body’s potential to heal itself and enhance performance.  AIS allows your clients to achieve a greater sense of ease, balance and range of motion without you having to work harder. AIS involves targeting and working one muscle at a time.  AIS is a phenomenal modality to add to your tool box!

This class will be focusing on the upper body.

 It is possible!  Learn to work deeply on clients without straining your wrists and hands.  This one-day seminar uses an innovative combination of heat, vertical positioning and pressure applied with the feet (yes, your feet!)  to help relieve muscle pain and tightness.

 You will learn to give your clients deep, satisfying bodywork, while resting your hands.  These techniques require no special bars or overhead devices-they are simple to learn, insert easily into a bodywork session and will make your massage style more unique and effective    

 BRING:  Sheets, a small towel, massage oil or cream, and wear loose stretchable clothing (no jeans) since we’ll be using our feet!

The study of ethics doesn’t have to be dry!  This class not only helps fulfill a requirement for ethics hours, but provides a lively forum for discussing the real life difficult situations that massage therapists face in their jobs.  By covering the true life ethical issues that Massage Therapists face in their careers, the class is relevant, informative and extremely helpful.

 This Ethics class is taught in two separate 3-credit modules (morning and afternoon).  Take one or both, depending on how many Ethics credits you need.

Topics include:  Fuzzy Boundaries, Balance, Boredom, Burn-out, True Stories, H.I.P.A.A. and Professional Misconduct, Nightmare Jobs and Bosses

THE HOT STONE MASSAGE WORKSHOP

Learn the most comprehensive and effective version of this incredible treatment.  This workshop teaches you the logistics and techniques for performing Hot Stone Massage.  This profoundly relaxing and balancing treatment, based on ancient traditions, is now one of the most requested massage specialties worldwide.  Clients love this distinctive massage that incorporates hot stones with effective techniques and your unique style.

 In this 8 hour hands-on workshop you will learn how to set up for hot stone massage in your office, with specifics on equipment, supplies and stone selection.  You will learn how to use the stones and how to perform a 90 minute session.  You will also learn variations that will enable you to individualize your treatments according to your style and your client’s needs.  The workshop manual details all this and more, including pricing and marketing.  A Certificate is granted upon completion of the workshop.

Yvette Hayden, LMT is a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist and certified Aromatherapist.  She designs treatments and products for high-end spas, and shares her knowledge and skills through programs for nurses, woman’s groups and massage therapists.  After studying several different teachings of Hot Stones Massage, Yvette synthesized the best of all these techniques to create the most comprehensive, effective version of this modality.

 

BACH FLOWER REMEDIES

The purpose of the Bach Flower Remedies is to support the healing process by balancing the emotional factors that impede physical healing.  For example, they have the ability to alleviate anxiety and stress, and many other state of emotional imbalance.  Students will become familiar with all 38 Bach Flower Remedies, learn how and when to use the remedies in everyday life, and gain insight into the history and philosophy of Dr. Edward Bach.  This course introduces you to Dr. Bach’s philosophy of self-help and simplicity.  You will learn from an experienced practitioner, sharing her first-hand knowledge and sincere passion for this wonderful system of healing.  The program will give detailed information on all of the remedies, including client case studies.  It is recommended for those who whish to use the Bach Flower Remedies personally or integrate them into use with clients.  This course is a pre-requisite for BIEP Level 2 and Practitioner Training.

  

Deborah Ravenwood, EMP, BFRP is the Owner and Director of the Ravenwood Holistic Wellness Center in Manchester, CT.  She is an Energy Medicine Practitioner, and graduated in 1997 from the Institute of Healing Arts & Sciences.  She is an Internationally Registered Bach Flower Practitioner, since 2001, with Certification from the Edward Bach Foundation.  In 2006, Deborah went on to become certified as a Bach International Education Program BIEP Practitioner Teacher.  She is currently the Retail and Consumer Education Trainer for Nelson Bach USA, Ltd.  She is a member of the Connecticut Holistic Health Association.  For more information, visit www.ravenwoodhealing.
