Massage Therapy as a profession has become a recognized aspect of mainstream health
care.
Professional therapeutic massage improves muscle tone and circulation, eliminates toxins
from the body, relaxes muscles, relieves pain, and reduces stress. With the establishment of
national certification and state licensing laws for massage therapy, the profession has moved
toward recognition and credibility among health-care providers, health spa services, and
insurance companies.
Successful completion of our massage therapy program leads to a diploma and qualifies the
student to:
- Practice massage therapy with a limited permit prior to passing the State exam. This is done under the supervision of a Licensed Massage Therapist.
- Sit for licensure in NY State as a Massage Therapist.
- Sit for the National Certification Exam in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
The Hudson Valley School of Massage Therapy was established in 2001 and is registered
with the NYS Department of Education Board of Regents. The Hudson Valley School
of Massage Therapy is accredited through the National Accrediting Commission of
Cosmetology Arts & Sciences. Each student becomes a member of the Associated
Bodywork & Massage Professionals, which also provides liability insurance for our students
while attending school.
